The Brotherhood of Nod (often shortened to "Nod" or the "Brotherhood") is a popular, global, religiously developed movement devoted to the guidance of the elusive and charismatic figure of Kane, and the extraterrestrial Tiberium substance that arrived on Earth in 1995. Although Nod surfaced in 1995 at the time of the substance's arrival, before this date, the Brotherhood was an ancient and secret society claiming to have originated prior to 1800 BC. Reported beliefs include that Kane is an immortal prophet whose guidance dates back through their alleged millennia of secrecy, and that Tiberium is the catalyst for the next stage in human evolution. Nod is linked to the three Abrahamic traditions of Christianity, Islam and Judaism, but its followers do not belong to any of these three traditions. While almost all Nod activity is concerned with complex economic, military and scientific foci, its religiously articulated ideology drives this.

Sometime after the arrival of Tiberium, Nod was targeted as a terrorist group by the Global Defense Initiative, for actively using the dangerous Tiberium substance to fund a military-industrial complex in impoverished regions, primarily Africa, and pursue total domination over the world's peoples and resources. Thereafter, Nod faced off against GDI in many disastrous Tiberium Wars, restoring itself after each of its successive defeats.

In the First Tiberium War, the Brotherhood first launched an expansive campaign that eventually allowed it to take over most of Africa and launch a second campaign in mainland Europe. When GDI managed to take the initiative to gain more support, Kane devised a plan to blame GDI for the slaughtering of the population of Białystok, Poland. Afterwards, Nod broadcasted a fake news report claiming that GDI soldiers razed the whole town on suspicions of the citizens being involved in Tiberium smuggling. Soon after they had gotten reports that the United Nations had stopped funding GDI due to these false reports, now believing that the GDI without its funding was crippled and weak Nod had decided to go on to the offensive and attack most if not all GDI bases on the assumption that it would be a swift and easy victory. To their great surprise it was all a ruse and GDI was as strong as ever, one after another Nod forces were being pushed back. Getting a few victories here and there did not matter as Kane's stronghold at Sarajevo was besieged by GDI. The Final battle that had taken place was the bloodiest battle of the war as the soldiers of Nod would not quit nor surrender under the gaze of Kane, they fought with such ferocity and determination that GDI, even with their largest force they had deployed throughout the war, was struggling. Unfortunately, during the ensuing battle the Temple of Nod was destroyed and believed to have killed Kane and most of the senior staff. This has devastated Nod forces which soon crumbled, the war was over and Nod was a shadow of its former self.

Following the First Tiberium War, the death of Kane caused the Brotherhood to fracture into small armies. For quite a long time, they fought among themselves instead of against the GDI.

It is known that one of Nod's most influential leaders, General Hassan, was collaborating with GDI, keeping Nod relatively harmless. Unfortunately for Hassan, the Black Hand leader, Anton Slavik, escaped an execution attempt and rallied his forces against Hassan. The puppet leader was captured and executed in a ceremony marking Nod's reunification. To the astonishment of many Nod members, Kane revealed himself to be alive, shortly before Hassan was killed. Shortly after executing Hassan a massive assault on all GDI bases across the globe was initiated, catching GDI completely off guard, who at the time believed that Nod was in no way able to mount such an attack. Since Kane's revelation that he has returned, caused Nod forces to fight with such ferocity that hasn't been seen since the final defense of the Sarajevo Temple. With these attacks, many GDI bases were destroyed and many of them with little effort, whole GDI armies were wiped out before they could regroup and mount an offensive. Even though Slavik was victorious in his battles, many other Nod forces had failed and soon GDI was at Kane's doorstep. The final battle between Kane and GDI happened before Slavik and his forces were able to come to Kane's defense, only to arrive to witness the destruction of Kane's Base with very few survivors stating that they had seen Kane's fall. This marking the end of the Second Tiberium War, Nod moves back into the shadows to lick its wounds waiting for their time of redemption for failing Kane in his darkest hour.

Tiberium Essence[]

In Tiberium Essence, Nod continues the refinement of its arsenal from the Second Tiberium War, while the war had not gone in their favor and with the Firestorm Crisis which had cost Nod most of the members of the inner circle, they decided to keep many of their Second Tiberium War tech and improving on it. Since they had a cease fire with GDI they were able to address many flaws and issue from the second war. While battle tactics have stayed relatively the same, due to the events of the Firestorm Crisis, the doctrines for cybernetic combat units have changed. Before, all cybernetic units were all controlled by Cabal and was given orders from the Field Commander and with Cabal's betrayal Nod had gone with a main hub for their cyborg units and made it to where they are controlled by the individual Commanders and their respected base. That way if there is ever an uprising again, it would be only in controlled areas and quickly dealt with. New technologies have been developed and now replacing the older tech that Nod has been using, such as the Scorpion tank which is the spiritual successor to the Tick Tank, as an example and further improvements to their Tiberium research, cloaking, and energy weapon technologies. The current Brotherhood of Nod may not be as fanatical as their previous incarnations from the first and second war, but they are indeed technologically and command tactically superior. Due to this this new Brotherhood is more unpredictable on the battlefield, going from their classic hit and run and infiltration tactics, to suddenly engaging in head-to-head assaults and engagements. The previous Nod forces would run from an overwhelming force while this force would engage the enemy, throwing older GDI Commanders off guard with the sudden switch in tactics. The Brotherhood of Nod is and will always be a threat, so never take them lightly.
